What do you think about poetry? What kinds of poetry do you think you like?
I think that poetry is another different way to express yourself. Poetry is very flexible, you can express yourself using rhymes, limericks, riddles and sonnets. The kinds of poetry I like are the light, funny rhymes that make me laugh and say, "That's so true!" or "I totally get you!" That's the kind of poetry I like. I'm not sure yet whether I like those confusing and dark poems that leave me thinking really hard on something and make me feel all weird inside. I haven't found any I like so far, but I am going to continue to experiment with them and other types of poems. However, so far, my favorite types of poetry are humorous poems that I can easily connect with.
After reading a lot of different poems, I still think I am more drawn towards the poems that are light and not to heavy on the soul. However, it seems as though I also like depth in poetry. Like sometimes, I would go and re-read a poem and I would notice something that I didn't notice before. Or maybe I saw something with more clarity compared to the first time I read it. After reading a ton of poetry, I feel like my horizons have been broadened and I am the narrow-minded person I used to be. I discovered I like poems that show the speaker's personality and and show their reactions to certain situations. I also found out that I like comparing my self to the speaker and seeing whether or not I would've done the same if I was in a similar situations. I also realized that I become creepily amused when I realize that a speaker has the same personality or way of thinking as I do. Makes me feel not so alone in the world.
